KADHSMA Maiden Strategic Suppliers' Interactive Session 2026 | 28-29 August 2026
The Kaduna State Health Supplies Management Agency (KADHSMA), with technical support from the CIPS-Health Procurement Africa Programme, successfully convened its Maiden Strategic Suppliers' Interactive Session 2026 under the theme:
"Strengthening Partnerships for an Efficient, Transparent and Sustainable Health Supply Chain in Kaduna State."
The landmark two-day engagement brought together more than 110 participants from across the health supply chain ecosystem, including pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors and suppliers, government institutions, regulatory agencies, development partners, professional bodies, civil society organisations, and other key stakeholders.
The interactive session provided a unique platform for open dialogue and collaboration, shifting the focus from traditional buyer-supplier relationships towards strategic supplier relationship management, mutual accountability, and continuous improvement.
Participants explored a wide range of issues critical to strengthening Kaduna State's health supply chain, including:
The discussions highlighted the importance of fostering stronger partnerships between KADHSMA and its suppliers to ensure the consistent availability of safe, quality-assured health products for the people of Kaduna State.
Representatives from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) reinforced the critical role of technical and regulatory compliance in safeguarding the quality, safety, and integrity of health products throughout the supply chain.
The Director General of the Kaduna State Public Procurement Authority (KADPPA) also provided valuable guidance on public procurement compliance and procedures, helping suppliers better understand regulatory requirements and expectations. As a panellist, the DG shared insights into transparency, due process, competition, and supplier compliance, further enriching the discussions.
Suppliers actively contributed during panel and breakout sessions, sharing operational challenges, experiences, and practical recommendations aimed at improving efficiency and collaboration across the supply chain.
One of the most significant outcomes of the session was the adoption of a conference communiqué containing 18 resolutions designed to strengthen procurement and supply chain performance across Kaduna State.
Participants also reviewed, amended, and formally adopted the KADHSMA-Supplier Partnership Charter, which was subsequently signed as a demonstration of collective commitment to transparency, accountability, and partnership.
In addition, stakeholders agreed that the Strategic Suppliers' Interactive Session should be institutionalised as an annual engagement platform. This commitment will be supported through regular contract and supplier performance reviews, alongside measurable supplier key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
The success of the engagement was made possible through the dedication and leadership of several individuals who continue to champion improvements within KADHSMA and the wider health supply chain ecosystem.
Special recognition is extended to:
Their contributions played a significant role in ensuring the success of the engagement and advancing KADHSMA's ongoing improvement initiatives.
The Maiden Strategic Suppliers' Interactive Session marks an important milestone in Kaduna State's journey towards building a more resilient, transparent, and sustainable health supply chain.
By strengthening collaboration, improving supplier engagement, promoting compliance, and establishing clear performance expectations, KADHSMA and its partners are laying the foundation for stronger health systems and improved access to quality health commodities across the state.
KADHSMA extends its appreciation to the Kaduna State Ministry of Health, KADPPA, NAFDAC, PCN, participating suppliers, development partners, professional bodies, civil society organisations, and all stakeholders whose participation and commitment contributed to the success of this important event.
