The Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (YODMA) continues to strengthen its procurement systems with technical support from Dr Mirabel Okafor, Procurement Expert, CIPS Health Procurement Africa.

A key focus of the Third P5 Procurement Improvement Support Visit was a Strategic Supplier Engagement Session, which brought together suppliers and YODMA stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, accountability, and supplier performance. Discussions centred on contract compliance, product quality, delivery reliability, payment visibility, and continuous improvement, reinforcing the importance of strategic supplier relationships in achieving better health outcomes.

As part of the visit, a Supplier Contract Performance Self-Monitoring Toolkit was developed to help suppliers monitor their contractual commitments, improve communication with YODMA, and proactively address delivery risks and challenges.

The team also supported the development of an Invoice Ageing Tracker and the inclusion of key procurement improvement initiatives within YODMA's 2027 Annual Operational Plan, helping to ensure that improvements are embedded into routine operations and long-term planning.

We extend our appreciation to Pharm. Abdul-Aziz Garba Mohammed, Pharm. Babagana Ilya, participating suppliers, and all YODMA teams for their commitment to continuous improvement.

Together, we are building a more resilient, responsive, and self-reliant health supply system for the people of Yobe State.
