Enhancing Health Outcomes Through Coordinated Planning and Partnership in Kakamega County
On 26 February 2026, HPA was honoured to participate in the Quarterly Stakeholder Engagement convened by the County Government of Kakamega, Department of Health Services. The forum brought together a wide range of partners and county officials with a shared goal: to strengthen collaboration, review performance, and align priorities toward improved health outcomes for communities across Kakamega County.
Strengthening Partnerships for Better Health
The quarterly engagement provided a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to examine current working relationships and identify ways to enhance coordination. Discussions centred on building stronger, more effective partnerships that can drive collective achievements in the health sector.
Representing HPA, Bismack Wasta presented key program updates and highlighted significant milestones achieved over the recent months. A major focus of the presentation was the progress made in strengthening the county’s procurement processes—an essential step in ensuring timely, efficient, and transparent delivery of health services. These improvements reflect the shared commitment between HPA, the county government, and other partners to create a more robust health system.

The First Lady of Kakamega, Prof. Janet Barasa, delivered impactful remarks underscoring the importance of sustained collaboration between implementing partners and the county government. She commended the collective efforts that have contributed to advancements across several priority health areas, including:
- Reproductive and Maternal Health
- Nutrition
- Nurturing Care and Child Health
- HIV Care and Treatment
- Malaria Prevention and Case Management
- Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Management
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Services
